Raritan Bay Fluke & Weakfish...Bay is Heating up! Schaeffer Charter
Saturday, 28 August 2010
Had Jaime Schaeffer and company out today with the intent of hitting ambrose and maybe some seabass and porgies...greeted with a stiff n.w. wind against tide made for sporty conditions so i decided to stop at a reliable spot in the bay and wait for the wind to drop out. We never had to move far for the rest of the day as we had consistant action with some nice fish over the 22 inch mark coming up each drift for the last hour of the incoming. Spoke with Kezsr and called him onto the spot to try to share the wealth. Ended up the day with well over 60 throwback fluke... with 5 keepers (only 1 18 inch fish...rest were 21 inches or better)with the big fish coming in at 26 inches and 7 lbs...a half dozen nice eater bluefish, couple seabass...and 3 of those beautiful Weakfish....maybe the cycle year?Huh could be!
all in all...a great day for the crew

Sea Bass, Fluke fishing has been good!
Wednesday, 28 July 2010
Just an update on the fishing out there....The Fluke fishing is starting to pick up with some nice keepers coming over the rails. those bucktailing have been having a slight edge in size of fish over bait fishing.
Down the beach and on the rocky bottom, Sea Bass and nice large Fluke are showing in good quantity as well as some Porgies. Blackfish have been caught as well and this should improve as well.

In August we will continue targeting Sea Bass and Fluke as well as Trolling the Mud Hole for Bluefin, Mahi, Bonito,Skip Jack Tuna and False Albacore. Also, Night Bass Trips are available for those interested in drifting worms for the Stripers.

Scancarello Sandy Hook Bay Fluking
Sunday, 13 June 2010
Today we had the pleasure of taking the Scancarello Boys out for a day of fluking in Sandy hook and Raritan
Bay....it was also a special trip being Sal and Nick's sons (Vinny,Sal Jr,Nick Jr. and Vinny) first trip on a boat with the big boys....and it also happened to be Nick's 8th birthday!!!!!!!!
So out we went to alot of the productive spots we had nice fish on yesterday but NADA....Wind againt tide made for tough drifting conditions in a flat calm sea....we had action on the short fish and all the boys got to catch some fluke....they actually fished with our lever drag reels and had them figured out in no time at all...headed back to dock and had a surprise birthday cake for Nick Jr. All in all a great time and i thank you guys for all the laughs today!

Matt McKeon JCAA Fluke Tournament Charter
Sunday, 13 June 2010
Had the pleasure of being chartered for the J.C.A.A Annual FlukeTournament by Matt McKeon of Collegeville P.A.

Worked the deep water channels and ledges of the bay all day today through a ton of boat traffic. First fish of the day was a Solid 4 lb fluke and thought the day was going to be a beaut!!!!....and it certainly was a fantastic day as the fluke were chewing anything and everything thrown at them today....unfortunately, the first fish today was the biggest for us and after hearing of a 10lb fluke-a-saurus being weighed in, our big fish hopes diminished at the end of the day. Yuri had the hot hand today and couldnt be stopped(hope he gets an invite back next year!) and we had 13 keepers today and probably over 50 fish released as well.
Thanks again guys!

Ed Whitney Charter Sandy Hook Bass
Tuesday, 01 June 2010
Well, some days were not meant to be and today unfortunately turned out to be one of those days for the Ed Whitney charter from Asbury Park N.J.. Left the Highlands super early to start fishing this holiday before the boat traffic started. Headed to our spot which had produced alot of fish the last 3 trips. On the spot started marking fish right away on the incoming tide. Rod goes off and after a short fight a nice 4 lb Blackfish is released. Got a nice slick going and the next rod goes off....after a 10 min battle, Caryn Whitman PULLS IN HER FIRST STRIPED BASS....A NICE 17LB FISH.! That was going to be it for the bass cooperating today....tried to wait out the tide change but impatience got the better of me and the charter decided to finish off the day Fluke fishing.....and to our dismay....even that was very slow fishing today. Water Temp was 65.1 at the edge of the bay today on incoming tide.
Congrats again Caryn!

njswf.com Raritan Striped Bass Charter
Thursday, 27 May 2010
Had the guys from New Jersey Saltwater Fisherman.com fishing forum out for some Striper action today. Left the Highlands at 6:30 and was anchored on the grounds by 7:05. We had to wait a bit as the tide was just starting to turn to the ebb and the boat settled nicely after about a half hour...our first fish was caught shortly after that and we had a very steady pick of fish until after 12:15 when we called it a day. "Hot Rod" Houck, Joe "irish eyes" Gogan, Tom "Snoozer" Dietrich, "Bucktail" Bob & "marsh hawk"" Jerry rounded out the crew for today. Most fish caught on clams today but we did manage to snag some bunker and the biggest fish of the day came in at 24.0 lbs caught by Tom Dietrich on a live bunker. all in all a solid day with limits +
but only taking 6 fish home....all others released unharmed. all fish were quality fish in the 14-24 lb range today.

Holzer Striped Bass Charter
Thursday, 13 May 2010
Had the Holzer Party from Allentown P.A. out in search of some bass and were greeted by 25 S.E. winds and the outgoing tide. Only 3 boats made it out of Atlantic Highlands/Highlands area...Party Boat Dorothy B., Charter Boat Little Hawk and us.
Despite the favored snotty conditions the bass seem to like, it was not meant to be with the bass today. After 3 hours of getting pounded, we made a run back to the Shrewsbury River to try a few spots up river....on the way, i realized i had a prime opportunity to troll the river with NO OTHER BOAT TRAFFIC AROUND( a definate rarity there)...out went the stretches and right away had MONSTER BLUES....all you could want up to 15 LBS...we hammered the 1/4 mile stretch for 2 hours.....then we made the extremely long 3 MINUTE RIDE back to dock. All in all, not what we wanted but thanks mr bluefish for cooperating for my clients today.

Barry Kennedy Raritan Bay Striped Bass Charter
Thursday, 13 May 2010
Had the Barry Kennedy Charter from Pennsylvania on board for some Spring action on the striped ones.
The morning was kind of quiet around Romer and i believe that to be because the water temp dipped into the 47-48 degree range on the outgoing tide.
Time to make a move, so we searched for the right water and anchored up on some readings in 54.2 degrees. Baited the first two rods and before we could bait up two more, TWO ON!!!!
Thats the way it went for a steady 2 hours with multiple hookups common. Big fish went 14lbs. Limits were caught and all others released safely to play another day.

Butch Riggi Raritan Bay Striper Charter
Wednesday, 05 May 2010
Had Butch Riggi and Company (Terry, Nick and Jim) out for some Striped Bass action. Had a slow start to the fishing but once the tide laid right, the action was a constant bite to say the least....not uncommon to have multiple fish on at once today and the big fish was 36" and 20lbs...caught by Butch. Everyone had limits and the rest of the fish were 30-36 inches.
